What used to be a pond for Sims' Bait Shop is now a thriving riparian habitat full of cattails, Red-Wing Blackbirds and Black-Crowned Night Herons. The plethora of Herons roosting in the massive Black Willows squawking with the songs of Blackbirds create a cacophony only
surpassed by the zooming Pacific Coast Highway nearby. Fortunately for the birds and wildlife, the pond is densely bordered by Native Mule Fat, Black Willows, Tule Grass and Cattails.
Access information for Sims' Pond:
The Pond is located at the NW corner of Loynes and PCH in East Long Beach and is protected by a chain-link fence and is not accessible to the public. However, we do host several cleanups throughout the year and if you contact us at info@lcwstewards.org we can inform you of upcoming events and can tell you where to park.
